Want to get some assistance as you trade through some extremely challenging times? The Victorian Government has released details of its Business Costs Assistance Program, with details below, that provides help for Victorian businesses.

Why this is being released

Due to the recent lockdown and for eligible businesses that had not previously applied for covid assistance in June or have since become eligible.

How much you can get

The program offers grants of $4800 to eligible businesses, including employing and non-employing businesses, depending on their industry sector.

Who is eligible – the standard criteria

1.1          To be eligible for the Program, a business must:

  1. Be located within Victoria; and
  2. Be registered as operating in an eligible industry sector identified in the List of Eligible ANZSIC classes (as defined by the ANZSIC class linked to the business’

ABN); and

  1. Have incurred direct costs as a result of the July COVID Restrictions and the business cannot predominantly operate remotely; and
  2. Have an annual Victorian payroll of up to $10 million in 2019-20 on an ungrouped basis; and
  3. Be registered for Goods and Services Tax (GST) on 15 July 2021; and
  4. Hold an Australian Business Number (ABN) and have held that ABN on and from 15 July 2021 .
  5. Be registered with the responsible Federal or State regulator; and

For employing businesses only:

  1. Be registered with WorkSafe Victoria; and
  2. Attest that the business is supporting its workers to access any paid leave entitlements, or that if a person can work from home, to work from home during the July COVID-19 Restrictions, and supporting their casual workers, where possible.

Ineligible Businesses

1.2          Businesses will not be eligible to receive a Business Costs Assistance Round Two – July Extension grant if they have received support under any of the following programs:

  • Business Costs Assistance Program Round Two
  • Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund 2021
  • Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund 2021 – July Extension.

Applications are open from Friday 30 July 2021 until 11:59pm 13 August 2021.

Check your details on the Australian Business Register website are correct prior to submitting an application. This includes ensuring the industry classification (ANZSIC class) linked to your ABN registration correctly captures the business’ primary business activity.
